A fruit battery harnesses the chemical energy present in certain fruits to generate electric current. The fruit, such as a lemon or a potato, acts as an electrolyte, providing ions necessary for the flow of electricity. When two different metals, like copper and zinc, are inserted into the fruit, a chemical reaction occurs. This reaction causes electrons to flow from the metal with a higher electron affinity (zinc) to the one with a lower electron affinity (copper), creating an electric current that can power small devices or light up an LED.
