Wimshurst Static Machine

A Wimshurst static machine is an electrostatic generator used to produce high voltage electricity through electrostatic induction. It consists of two counter-rotating disks made of insulating material, mounted on a common axle. The disks have metal sectors and are separated by small gaps. When the disks are rotated using a hand-crank, metal brushes and metal combs create charge separation through friction. This charge separation leads to the build-up of high voltage on metal terminals, which can be used for various experiments and demonstrations.
